Virtual Food Drive

Every year we see the food donation barrels at grocery stores and in public buildings.  Every year we think “I should bring something for the barrel” and every year we forget.  Maybe it’s because we’re busy people.  And maybe it’s because they’re inconvenient.  This year let’s try something different: a virtual food drive.

The Alameda County Library (among other County agencies) has teamed up with the Alameda County Community Food Bank to provide a way for you to donate food to those less fortunate without leaving the comfort of your home.  This allows you to use the Food Bank’s bulk purchasing power to buy the foods that they need the most.  You can spend anywhere from $10.95 to buy 24 boxes of milk to $109 to buy 20 holiday meals.  Because they know that everyone is in a different financial situation, they offer the option to donate the dollar amount of your choice instead.

Let’s come together as a community and help our neighbors this holiday season.

Visit the Virtual Food Drive at http://vfd-accfb.org/home.aspx to donate today.
